Canmore’s Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration
Join the vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture and heritage at the Canmore Civic Centre. The event includes traditional performances, storytelling, and a market featuring Indigenous crafts.
National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day Every June, Canmore celebrates National Indigenous History Month, which is an opportunity to honour the unique heritage, outstanding contributions, and diverse cultures of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis communities across Turtle Island. On June 21, we honour National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Location: Civic Centre plaza
Celebrate June 15 in the Civic Centre plaza from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for the celebration of National Indigenous History Month. Experience and learn about the unique cultures, traditions, and experiences of Indigenous communities through a day filled with drumming, dancing, and an Indigenous market.
Activities:
- Indigenous Market (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.):
- Location: Outside the Civic Centre and inside Miner’s Union Hall
- Explore a diverse range of handcrafted goods, art, and products made by Indigenous artisans.
- Drumming and Dancing (12 – 2 p.m.):
- Feel the rhythm and energy of Indigenous drumming and dance performances.
- Creative Craft Kits:
- Free kits available for pickup inside the Civic Centre.
- Indigenous Book Sales:
- Books available for purchase inside the Civic Centre.
- Indigenous Story Walk:
- Location: Rotary Friendship Park
